A special day has been set aside for children entering kindergarten and children entering the 6th grade in August 2012 to receive required immunizations for school entry and 6th grade entry.

When:  Thursday, March 29, 2012

Time: 8:30 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Where: Rutherford County Health Department

              221 Callahan Koon Rd

              Spindale, N.C. 28160

Items to bring: Immunization record, insurance or Medicaid cards.  If child doesn’t have insurance or Medicaid they still get the required vaccines free.

Sponsored by Rutherford County Health Department and Rutherford County School Nurses

North Carolina State Law requires that all children entering kindergarten receive required vaccines that prevent communicable diseases.  Funding for the vaccines changed July 1, 2011 due to State budget changes and some vaccines are no longer free to all children. We encourage all parents to start planning ahead for your child to receive the vaccines before July.

The health department administers vaccines Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 p.m. No appointment is needed.   At the visit a nurse can discuss with you other optional vaccines that are available.

If you have any questions you may call the Rutherford County Health Department at (828)287-6100.
