Schools and Teachers Recognized At December Board Meeting

December 2016 Board MeetingRutherford County Schools and the Board of Education held their December board meeting on December 6th at the Cool Springs Administrative Office.  

Two new board members were sworn in following their election in November.  RCS would like to welcome Phillip Morrow and Joey Brandle as our newest board members.

In addition to the new board members, the RCS Board of Education also elected Carolyn Keever as the new Chairperson, and Sherry Bright was elected to serve as Vice-Chairperson.  

RCS had six schools to be recognized for their Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) awards.

Ellenboro Elementary School – Model Recognition
Forest City-Dunbar Elementary School – Model Recognition
Forrest Hunt Elementary School – Green Ribbon Recognition
Rutherfordton Elementary School – Green Ribbon Recognition
Spindale Elementary School – Green Ribbon Recognition

RCS also recognized Jennifer Brunson (district PBIS coordinator) for her work with this program.

PBIS recognitions

Karen Gray, PE teacher at Rutherfordton Elementary School, was recognized for recently being awarded the Bright Ideas Tar Heel Teacher of the Week.

Judy Mott, EC teacher at Chase Middle School, was recognized for recently being named an Exceptional Children Educator of Excellence.
