Area Students Recognized At May Board Meeting

May 2012 Board MeetingThere were several recognitions at the May School Board meeting on May 8.  Students from various schools received certificates of appreciation for their accomplishments and honors.

First, students from our three middle schools were recognized by the Duke Talent Identification Program for achieving at or above national standards on either the ACT or SAT.

East Middle School:

Kyle Bingham, a student at Chase High, was recognized for being selected to attend Governor's School in 2012.

The RS Central High School Marine Corps Junior ROTC Shooting Team were National Champions.  Team members are:

Cadet First Lieutenant Courtney Blair – Team Captain

The RS Middle School Business Education Career Club had several members win first place in the Western Regional Competition:

Finally, two RS Middle students, Lauren Revis and Samantha Shuford, came in third place at the NC Economic Development Commission Marketing state competition.
