May 2014 Board MeetingRutherford County Schools and the Board of Education recognized several students from across the county for their recent achievements at the May 2014 board meeting held on May 6.

Dr. Mason recognized East Rutherford student Rachel Camp, who recently received the Pat Gainey Award for Outstanding Female Student Athlete by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association.

Elementary Education directory Steven Helton recognized two Forrest Hunt Elementary students for having their artwork chosen by the North Carolina Council on Economic Education.  Taylan Roach and Briana Kincaid were two of a select few that were declared state champions in the 2014 Calendar Poster Contest.

Secondary Education director Renee Collins recognized two groups of students.

Four middle school students recently received state recognition in the Duke Talent Identification Program (TIP):
  • Mayce Mattox - RS Middle
  • Rachel Hollifield - East Rutherford Middle
  • Bailee Harris - East Rutherford Middle
  • Sabie Bright - East Rutherford Middle

Also, four students were recently selected to attend the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics.
