Neuroscience Researcher Visits Rutherford County High Schools

Dr. ArenkielRutherford County high schools enjoyed a visit from scientific researcher Dr. Benjamin Arenkiel on Friday, May 28, 2014.  Dr. Arenkiel shared exciting advancements in biomedical engineering and neuroscience research, which left students eager to learn more about his groundbreaking research.  He also shared how his unusual path to college was driven by his interests and passions and how this path led to his becoming a renowned research scientist.  Dr. Arenkiel spent time with teachers making plans for utilizing our district’s technology to virtually bring his Houston research lab into our science classrooms. 

Benjamin R. Arenkiel, PhD, is an assistant professor of molecular and human genetics at Baylor College of Medicine and was one of the first McNair Medical Institute Scholars.  This event was hosted by the Robert and Janice McNair Educational Foundation.
