The Layman of the Year Award is given annually to recognize an outstanding classroom teacher in the Rutherfordton-Spindale District of the Rutherford County School System.  The teacher must demonstrate exceptional skill and dedication to the art of teaching, possess a superior ability to inspire a love of learning in students of all backgrounds and capabilities, maximize his/her use of resources, visualize desired educational goals and strive to accomplish them, and be highly respected by students, co-workers and parents.  Rutherford County Schools is proud to announce Suzanne Hutchins as the 2015 recipient of this award.  Mrs. Hutchins currently teaches 3rd grade at Pinnacle Elementary School.  She obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Western Carolina University in 2004 and received National Board Certification in 2010. She has been an educator for the Rutherford County School System for 10 years.  She is married to Brad Hutchins, Physical Education teacher at RS Middle School and they have two children.  Congratulations to a deserving teacher!
