gen{i]us is an SAT and ACT preparation, incentive, and recognition program designed and implemented by Rutherford County Schools and the McNair Educational Foundation. All high school students receive SAT and ACT preparation during the school day at each grade level. Students are recognized and rewarded at four levels based on achieved scores.

NCASBO Academy 
Angie Ownbey, Certified School Business Manager
The NCASBO School Business Management Academy was established in 2006 to develop future school business leaders through a comprehensive training program in the area of school finance. The Academy provides focused training to school business officials in order to:
  1. Promote the highest professional and ethical standards of school business management practices for NC schools;
  2. Offer practical information that will help school business officials succeed and excel in their employment; and;
  3. Establish a basis for advancing professionalism of school business officials to assure school districts that current or prospective business officials have a base knowledge about laws, regulations, and procedures for the ultimate benefit of the students of North Carolina’s public school system.
 
Obtaining certification demonstrates a dedication to the school business profession and offers a base of useful information taught by seasoned practitioners. The NCASBO Certification Program has been endorsed by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, the North Carolina School Boards Association, and the North Carolina Association of School Administrators.
  
Mrs. Ownbey completed 84 course hours within a three-year period to become a Certified Business Office Manager.

NC School Public Relations Association
Rutherford County Schools (RCSNC) was among 31 school districts in North Carolina to win Blue Ribbon Awards for effective school communications and public relations.

RCSNC won awards in the following categories:
• Electronic Communications
• Publications
• Graphic Design
• Special Events
A Blue Ribbon Award is the highest honor a school district can receive from the North Carolina School Public Relations Association.
