Rutherford County Speech and Debate students perform well at tournaments

Placing first or second in rounds of individual events or winning single flights of debate at the tournaments were:  (CHS) Diego Almarez, Bryson Doggett, Joe Vallecillo, William Robinson, Mekayla Bradley, (ERHS) Bryson Honeycutt.  Placing overall at North Mecklenburg were: (CHS) Noah Palmeri and Jonah Hill 5th overall in Duo Interpretation. (ERHS) Kali Thurman was 6th overall in Dramatic Interpretation, Laci Tipton and Rachel Roberson 4th overall in Duo Interpretation, Ollie Parton and Kayla Webb 2nd overall in Duo.  Kali Thurman was named the top novice in her division while teammate Kayla Webb won the Miriam Oxendine award for spirited leadership.  At Bob Jones Academy the Chase duo team of Noah and Palmeri qualified for the final round of competition at this national circuit tournament taking the sixth spot overall.  "Both of my teams are doing well considering their size.  So far, they've traded wins, we'll have to see what the rest of the season brings.  I'm proud of these students." - Coach J.
